В 1962 компания эксплуатировала около 16 тыс. км путей. Основные магистрали "Юнион Пасифик" проходят из штатов Канзас и Айова на запад через г. Денвер, шт. Колорадо, г. Шайенн, шт. Вайоминг, г. Солт-Лейк-Сити, шт. Юта, в Лос-Анджелес, а также на северо-запад в города Сиэтл и Спокан. Эксплуатирует четыре трансконтинентальных фирменных экспресса: "Сити ов Лос-Анджелес" ["City of Los Angeles"], "Сити ов Портленд" ["City of Portland"], "Сити ов Сан-Франциско" ["City of San Francisco"] и "Сити ов Сент-Луис" ["City of St. Louis"].
